In Reply to: Painted Turtle with ICK? posted by Charlie on June 20, 2000 at 21:11:52:
: I have a painted turtle that I picked up off the road. His shell is about the size of a saucer. Had him for about 6 weeks. During the day (spring/summer weather here) I keep him outside in a big pan with water and rocks (he can climb out of the water and bask). At night I put him in the house (he likes to sleep in the corner behind an end table). We feed him earthworms and minnows. Lately I noticed whitish areas on his knees and top of head. Could he get ICK from the minnows? If so, what do I do about it?
: Thanks
Don't know about ick, but could be some type of fungus ( really shouldn't get it with natural UV
- sunlight ).
Treat with diluted Nolvasan solution or methylen
blue: paint on & let dry before allowing back in
the water. Hope this helps...
