Ron, I do not advocate mixing species but I really don't see anything wrong with it. In the case of boxies and redfoot it is an odd mix but if you do not see any behavioral problems either the boxie attacking the redfoot or the other way around there should be no problem. As far as diet goes you might run into problems there. But I do see your rational in that the single larger will provide the most space for the both of them considering their different needs and likes.
