If you are talking about Desert Blend Lizard Litter, I believe that is made up of crushed walnut shells. In that case, no, it's not safe for tortoises....I'd highly recommend Care Fresh as substrate. You can order it at www.beanfarm.com if you can't find it locally. Alfalfa pellets are also safe. What sparked this sudden substrate question, I was under the impression you had sulcata for a least a little while? What were you keeping them on before and why the sudden substrate emergency?
