: I need to know if it is safe to use desert lizard litter for 2 sulcatas!?!?!?! Will it compact them if eaten????
: PLEASE HELP!!!
I keep my sulcata on a mix of lizard litter, alfalfa pellets and he also has a few piles of timothy hay to burrow in. My sulcata tasted the litter when I first put it in there, but I have not had any problems with him eating it since. But I think the litter is digestable and can be easily passed if it is accidently ingested. If you notice your torts eating it, and not it wasn't accident or a taste test I would say don't use it. Just make sure they have a place to hide or something to burrow in, the litter does not allow for good burrowing.=) It is a lot of trial and error when choosing a substrate, at least that has been my experience.
Good luck,
Shelly
