But they mess up by putting one group of animals in the dreaded "glass tank" with newspaper substrate and the other group in a tortoise table with soil and sand. While they do a good job of keeping everything else constant (heat/light/food) they mess up by not putting both groups in the same enclosure type while varying the substrate. After all the time they spend bad mouthing glass tanks they allow a glass tank to compromise the interpretation of the experiment.
