: I was recently told of a shipment of bell's hingeback tortoises, as well as a type of tortoise from Russia which has never been imported before.
: Anyway, the guy selling these is trying to get in between $49-$59 for the bell's hingeback tortoises. Is this a good price for an import, or should people stay away from all hingebacks?
: Also, what other type of tortoise would he be talking about, from, or around Russia, which has never been imported before? He said that they were very small and leaf shaped.
I think I paid $100 about two years ago to "rescue" one from a failing pet store. I bought mine because the poor guy was very ill and I couldnt leave the pet store knowing he would die, so to the vet we went but he had such an advanced state of Hexamita, he didnt make it through the course of meds.
I would advise against buying anything that is an import, it just supports this horrific trade. Try turtle homes for adopting one or a breeder, i saw some hatchlings at a herp show last year for about $30.
As for the Russian, I'm clueless.
