Niki, I had a small painted turtle walk four blocks from lake Michigan to my front door and wait for my wife to pick him up. We took him in for one month to fatten him up. This may not sound too strange, how ever this turtle had to cross five roads, one that is very busy, in order to do this. Why he stopped in front of my door is beyond me.Perhaps it was divine intervention. How does it go? Even the sparrow has no needs?

We are the neighborhood rescue home as well. We have had kids bring anything from kestrals, sparrows, snakes and other creatures that have been injured. So I suspect by them.

I love raccons, they are so cool. However(there is always a however) they are major carriers of the cat flea. Not a problem so much for tortoises, but for birds and cats this could be bad.If the raccons start moving into your yard this could be a danger for teddy, at least until he is larger. I had raccons wipe out all the fish in my pond last summer. Over $200 worth.
: I haven't bought grocery greens in a few months!
: His stools are consistent, green, and he seems to
: be fine.
: Also WHO is telling box turtles to show up in my
: yard? lol Had another one wander in through the open
: gate during a severe thunderstorm/hailstorm yesterday,
: (power went out too for a while), an there's a
: nice boxie in my yard up by the house riding out
: the storm under Teddy's wood post!!! Teddy was
: inside and dissappeared into his hay after the
: 20th lightning rod hit the trees behind the house!
: When the thunder started to rumble out, I put the
: boxie back outside the fence, I was able to pet him on his
: head which he extended out for petting??!!!

: Have to check on my snapper turtle (about 11-13 inches)
: in the back stream since the storm. I feed him
: tidbits sometimes, he's pretty calm and lets me
: show people that he's there. (shame on me for
: feeding the snapper, I know!, he's so cute though!)
: Also feed a bratty racoon too. niki
