Andrew,
is there any discharge coming from the tortoises nostrils, anything, even slight and clear?
Is the tortoise making unusual noises or having difficulty breathing, ie: open mouth breathing?
Hold the tortoise up and watch it for a bit,( a couple of minutes) can you see any discharge at all or a bubble coming from the nostrils?
What are the temperatures in it's enclosure?
Both the warmer and cooler sides.
Is it very lethargic, and showing no interest in eating?
Is it drinking the water on it's own from a dish, or when you soak it?
Is the vet you took it to experienced with tortoises?
What exactly did the vet do, did he/she weigh the tortoise check it all over including inside the mouth and under the tail?
Was both a stool and urine test performed?
What are the tortoises stools like, firm or loose?
What about the urine, anything unusual?
Please answer all the above questions, so we can get a clearer idea of what's going on.Nobody can really diagnose a tortoise without seeing it, and I'm certainly not a vet. But by answering the questions we can get a better idea of what might be wrong.
Cetainly if you suspect that the tortoise is ill, you should take it back to the vet, or to another vet if you were not happy with the one you just saw.
Terry.
