Pet stores often give out the wrong advise, it's quite common.
I'm glad that you found the forum and hope that Kelly, Kathy and myself managed to help you out.I still think a vet visit as suggested by Kathy is a very good idea. Also make sure the substrate is not toxic. Cedar and other wood shavings can be toxic, Cedar is highly toxic . Other types of wood shavings can be too and also cause irritation to the eyes and nostrils.
