what species of Tortoise do you have?
Have you thought about joining a tortoise email discussion list?
Some of the lists are open to all species of tortoise and turtles, other lists stick to the one species.

Go to egroups.com and take a look at the tortoise lists.
Tortoise Trust is a great list to belong to, but there are other lists too.
I'm sure through the lists you will come into contact with other keepers in your area.

I know of at least a couple of tort keepers in Texas that are subscribed to many of the lists.

If you find that the discussion lists are not for you, you can easily unsubscribe yourself.
Hope this helps and that you join a list or two, I'm sure you'll be glad you did.
