No it isn't - check with NASA please

First of all, you can't just say the sun is shrinking. It isn't a solid mass.
It is gaseous body.

It *is* experiencing mass loss due to solar wind...hold onto your hat...at a rate of 10^-14 (that's ten to the negative 14th power...) and over 6 billion years it will lose 0.00002 of its own mass...hmmm...

Lets see...overall as a gaseous body the sun is actually gaining luminosity...as the core collapses and fuses hydrogen to helium, it experiences an increase in luminosity

So we won't die in darkness - we're gonna fry.
