Linda,
This might be totally different then what I'm about to explain, but it's worth telling it.
I have a gulf coast turtle that has something called dry ganggreen(sp?). What happens is dried up skin around the toe nail builds up it starts to twist around the nail and cuts off curculation, thus the nail comes off. I caught it too late on my turtle and he's lost about 5 or 6 toes.
To help fix this, you want to scrap away at the old built up skin after it's bath. This probably not your problem, but you never know.
Good luck,
Jamie S
: I was checking out my little redfoot tort the other day, like I always do everyday, and I noticed there his/her toenail was crooked! I touched it, and he got all mad at me and made his hissing sound. So, I left it alone. The next day, it had come off. Has this ever happend to any of your torts before? I just can't imagine what he would have done to himself. :( His enclosure is 100% baby proofed, and I don't understand how this happened. Poor Binkie!
