: protein content causes rapid growth (bone and keratin), Animals on pea/bean diets usually expire from kidney failure - but this takes a few years to manifest.

Hello guys;
How does protein cause bone growth? If I remember correctly bone is mostly calcium.
Now Andy, I beleive you are onto something with the kidney issues. I have seen terribly pyramided animals that had a kidney infection. They recovered but the shell growth was terrible ever since. Siblings in the same yard without kidney infections had normal shell growth. This rules out diet entirely.
Chronically dehydrated animals may have impaired kidney function and therefore bad shell growth.
I still have not seen protein cause pyramiding.
Andy where is your data published? All I ever see is your conclusions. You allude to data, can we see it?
Scott
