I soak my babies 2 - 3 times a week. my older ones (over a year) only 2 times a week. plastic plant saucers work great. i also use lukewarm water and go for 10 to 15 minutes. i don't keep water in their indoor enclosures at all. when they are outdoors they do have access to water saucers. the plastic ones work great. they are easy to throw in the dishwasher and to soak in clorox every so often. i tried ceramic ones, i heard they were better, but it was more expensive, grew mold faster and cracked. hope this helps, good luck. sonja
