: niki, i also tell them that they don't like to be handled much, they can pet my turtles but i don't like people to pick them up as they are likely to be peed on, also the strength of the legs pushing against kids hands usually startles them and they tend to toss them at that point! people are always surprised at the strength of the muscles in their legs and even i have been pinched by them, getting my fingers caught between the leg and shell. ouch! I try to stay away from the salmonella thing a bit as i don't beleive mine carry it, but i don't want to be blamed either if some kid shows up with it from eating raw chicken either!
