I agree.. it makes me sick at heart to see the incredible numbers of these doomed hapless animals at the local pet stores lately. I've never once seen a captive-bred Russian tort!!! The importation of these animals in such numbers is a disgrace. I'd love to own Russians, but I'm going to hold out until captive-bred ones are offered.

: I just went to the turtle classifieds and saw the annual russian tortoise flood. Now if I go to their native land are they just everywhere or are they just being decimated. I am a lizard guy, but I have interest in all these great animals. Mali uros have the same unfortunate death sentence. I have no respect for these losers that import and sell these poor animals for pennies. To you importers that might read this I just have to say get a job and leave the the animals to humans. There is a somewhat reasonable way to import animals. I breed and sell a lot of animals and I know any competent person wouldnt have to sell wild animals. Ah!!! that felt good.
