Hi Dave,
A spur-thighed tortoise should NOT have a primary diet of lettuce , fruits etc !
You SHOULD certainly provide it with flowers ....hibiscus, roses, pansies......this is not "spoiling" your tortoise as it should be offered as part of it's every day diet anyway along with items such as : dandelions, sowthistle, clover, agave plant, opuntia, grape vine leaves, watercress, carrot tops, beet tops, short hays and grasses, plantain, honeysuckle, hawkbits, hawkweeds, finely chopped carrots and mushrooms, hawkbeards, vetches, trefoils, mallows, bindweeds, sedums, russian vine,.....errr, I can't think of anything else at the moment, but you should always offer food that is high in fibre, low in protein and has a high calcium content.
Cheers
Les
: I have a spoiled spur thigh named Cornelius aka Cornywho I want to spoil it by giving it edible flowers along with it's primary diet of romaine lettuce, some fruits, and other vegetarian diet. However, I do not know what flowers to feed my Corny. I because it is spring here in Rhode Island I want to grow my own flowers and feed it to corny. Can anyone suggest to me any edible flowers for Conelius???
