A lot of things don’t seem to make scientific or biological sense until they are looked into. Look at incubation temperature and sex determination. In the mid 70’s I began suggesting that by increasing the incubation temperature of leopard gecko eggs we could get more males than females. This didn’t make scientific or biological sense at the time but we now understand why. The point is that this needs to be looked into. Hatchling tortoises raised with low humidity are more prone to pyramiding than those raised with high humidity. I have done a number of experiments along this idea and so far the lack of humidity seems to be a very important factor in pyramiding. I don’t know why but it just is! Continued research will give us more answers.
