Sounds like your temps are too high. 85F in the hot side is fine, cool side should be down around 73F or so...also, no broccoli and lettuce..try dark leafy greens, grasses, clovers...and yeah, provide a few more inches of substrate to dig in...sounds okay though...torts hide alot...
