Hi try the web site linked below to help you out.
Not sure what the meaty stuff is, but animal protein of any kind is not recommended for a sulcata who is a grazing hebivore.
Feeding animal protein to a sulcata can result in many health problems, such as kidney disease, renal failure and pyramiding( where the scutes on the carapace grow upward, forming bumps/pyramids). So check out exactly what the pet store food is. A sulcatas shell ( carapace) should be completely smooth.
Feeding other foods high in protein can cause the same problems, you want your tortoise to grow slowly and steadily.
Fiber is the most important ingredient in a sulcatas diet, to add the fiber to an indoor sulcatas diet mix in freshly clipped grasses, ground up Timothy and Orchard hay, hibiscus flowers, mulberry leaves.
You can also supplement the diet with Rep Cal phosphorous free calcium with vit d3 ( available at most pet stores0 and herptivite from the same company.
Anyway, try the libnked web site and post again if you have more questions.
There are also some great tortoise and sulcata email discussion lists, the lists will put you in contact with hundreds of tortoise keepers from all over the US, and the world.
Go to egroups.com and join up to the sulcata list and/or tortoisetrust list. The helpfull and experienced people subscribed to the lists will be a great help to you.
Hope this helps,
Terry.
