My yellowfoots have an outdoor enclosure of 10' x 40'. They seem quite content here, I'd suggest having it well shaded and well planted. Yellowfoots do not really burrow but they do like to make scrapes - shallow holes that they hang out in. Your 6" of soil is plenty. Just surround your enclosure so they can't see out, this way they won't be trying to get to the other side.
I live is south Fl. and rarely need to bring my group in. Banana, heliconia, mulberry, mango trees make good habitat since these are forest dwellers and don't generally bask often. Very personable torts and I like them very much.

: how much outdoor space should i plan on for raising and breeding 3 females and 1 male yellow foots? I am in Florida and the ground is coral rock after 6" deep. do they need an area to dig??? do they only go straight down or do they dig escape tunnels under the walls? Just getting started with yellows so any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks
