It can take a while to come up with a name,
I named our first sulcata Angel. When we first saw her and lifted he out of her packing crate, both my daughter and I exclaimed " Oh what an Angel"!
Little Bubba's name just popped out so to speak,(he/she is a much smaller 7" sulcata) he didn't have a name for a while and then I started to call him Bubba, little bubs, little Bubba. No idea where it came from, he was just Little Bubba.
I know suspect he may be a female ( still too young to be sure)but the name will stay, Little Bubba, Bubsy!
Chewy an even smaller sulcata got his name because he chewed on the food, more than chomped like the bigger guys.
And then There's Big Ben, a 150 lb male. He also was nameless for a week or so . Big Ben just suited him, this huge plodding tort. So Big Ben he is, the fact that I'm English might also have played it's part.
My other turtles are.
Bandit.
Plum.
Sprout.
Ever Ready Freddie.
Happy.
Sundance.
Newt.
Noodles.
And a couple I've yet to name.
So take your time, a name will come to mind.
Terry.
: Okay so how large and/or old is your tortoise? Who told you it was male? If it's a hatchling or juvenile, I'd stick with a "unisex" name as you cannot accurately sex sulcata until sexual maturity..anything else is just a guess. In case you haven't seen my care sheet yet, it's linked below. As far as a name...be creative!
