A paper dealing with this very topic is in preparation right now. I will happily post a draft very shortly.

As for ending the debate - I doubt it. There are still some people debating whether the earth is flat or whether the entire manned-space flight program is an elaborate hoax...

The fact is that anyone with a half decent understanding of the biology of herbivorous reptiles should be able to get a handle on this subject fairly easily. The fact that there is so much confusion, and so many strange ideas are floated is a sad indictment of the overall level of technical knowledge typical in the herp community.
