: Two questions. First how can I sex my Sulcata. He/She is about 10 inches. Is this old enough? I can send pictures if someone want's to try. The other is what do you use for a water dish? He/She seems to get his bedding in his water from digging. So I have to change it every day. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks...

I changed my hatchling substrate to 100% finely
cut Orchard Grass Hay, that I personally sit and
cut up, then blend to an oregano consistancy. It's
a laborous task, but it has solved problems for me. The 1st is it can dig in it 2nd it can eat it with no problem, 3rd when it gets it the water, if
it really drinks water (which I only have witnessed once in 10 months) then no problem if it
eats it along the way. Try it, finely ground up it is the best indoor terrarium substrate I've used yet.(Although I must say I miss the look of the red lizard litter, that stuff looks great).

Ciao'

Giovanni
