Turtle eggs

our tortise has layed one egg that we have put in a small aquarium with about 2 inches of sand. The aquarium is open at the top, we're heating it to about 84 degrees and have a small glass of water inside as well. The egg appears to be sinking in on one side. This is our first experience and would like to know if this is normal, if not, what can be done about it.
