My first suggestion would be to take this tortoise to a vet who is familiar with treating reptiles. I have no doubt this tortoise is loaded with protozoan parasites and may also have some kind of respiratory situation going on. Russians are notoriously piggy, active, hardy tortoises, AS LONG AS THEY HAVE BEEN ACLIMATED.
Keep the temperature up and make an appointment at the vet's. Tortoises (and most reptiles) crash very quickly because they hide their illness well.
Good luck and keep us posted.
: I have a Russian tortiose. It won't eat its food. I've been feeding it a kind of food that's supposed to have things that are not only healthy, but also things that will make my tortoise want to eat it (in case you need to know, its caled turtle, tortoise, and iguana food, nothing specail really). However, whenever I feed it, the food drys up (its a wet food) because Jorge has just left it there. It also has slowed down a lot. My tortiose will stay out of the light all the time and sit in the cold corner and sleep. The previous owner fed it a diet solely consisting of lettuce. Any help here would be great. Thanks.
