Tortoises are nothing for Kids (and especiall not below 10 years of age!
90% of all Torts have salmonella, which doesnt harm themselfs! but if one of your childs
touches them and then puts his finger in his mouth!!! fairly high risk!
Tortoises are also very easily stressed, which means they dont want to be touched or disturbed in other ways!
They ARE NO TOYS!
And 4inch is nothing for a (even very small tort!) to climb over,
one of my Greeks (CB99) managed to climb over a 12inch wall without any problems!
Get them a rabbit or hamster, but pelase no tortoise, it will either harm your childs or the poor animal!
and remember: All Tortoise species are endangered!!!!
