I expect that the pet store is incorrect. There are a couple types of wood turtles currently being imported from South America. Due to the color, I expect that these are Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima manni. A book titled, The World's Most Spectacular Reptiles & Amphibians has a picture of one on page 17. The pet shop may have a copy of the book to confirm the species.

: does anyone have information on the South American Wood Tortoise.. not turtles but tortoises?? I have never heard of them before until I saw them in a petshop yesterday.. The store guy says they get like 12-18".. Have I just been blind not to see these before????
