Hello Olaf -

In searching on the web, and in looking at which zoological institutions house what sub-species, and in looking at the studbook for this species, it certainly doesn't look like Pyxis a. brygooi is the most common, it looks like Pyxis a. arachnoides is the most common.

So, I can only assume that you mean Pyxis a. brygooi is the most common in Madagascar. What makes you say this? Are you basing this on first-hand observation (congratulations, if that's the case) or are you basing this on some published articles? What other differences between the subspecies have you found?

Thanks for any and all help in this,
Scott Alexander

: no hinge: Pyxis arachnoides brygooi

: hinge with dark markings on plastron: Pyxis arachnoides oblonga

: hinge without dark markings on plastron: Pyxis arachnoides arachnoides

: Pyxis arachnoides brygooi is the smallest and most common of the three subspecies.

: best regards

: : How do you recognize that, what are the differences?
: : please explain me, i want to have as much info on them as possible.
