Champion, my best "guesstimate" would be female, although there is no exact way to tell from the rear end. There is no way to tell if this tortoise is sexually mature yet by the size, it could be 4 and just severely overfed and overgrown. Looks healthy enough, just get it on a good diet and stop the pyramiding from continuing is your best course of action at this point. And go with a "unisex" name just in case :)
