: russians (or any other tortoise for that matter) will not be happy in an aquarium. russians seem to need a lot of space, even though they are one of the smaller torts. mine have about a 10 ft x 15 ft. pen outside and they still ask me for more space! they are very active and like to burrow, climb and dig. if you have them in the house, you will need to build a bigger enclosure. as big as you possibly have the room for. check out niki's website. she's got a pretty cool cage. some pretty cool ones are starting to show up at the pet shops for fairly reasonable prices too. they need to have an area big enought to have a cool end and a hot end for basking. make sure they have plenty of substrate to burrow in, a good hiding place and they would probably appreciate some rocks to climb around on. keep the enclosure as dry as possible. they don't like humidity. good luck. check out www.sonic.net/~melissk for care sheets and also melissa's care sheets (not sure of the link, she posts to this forum).
