African spurred tortoises (Geochelone sulcata) readily breed in captivity if you have the room and can provide adequate heat, food, and a place to lay eggs. They are sexually mature at about 5 to 7 years and I have had 14-inch females lay fertile eggs. Usually expect them to start producing at about 16-inches. Expect to put in considerable time and money if you don't live in an area where you can keep them outside for most of the year.
