Buttercup, my lovely Leopard Tortoise, is very happy that spring has finally sprung here in Central New York. She's out in her pen, munching away and getting all th basking in she can.
I still take her in at night - mostly because I worry about predation (her pen is just fenced, not covered, and we have racoons around).
I am just amazed every day at how much personality she has and how intelligent she is.
BTW - when I let her get some more roaming time in, I duct tape a piece of string to her shell, which is attached to a large roll of string. She just pulls it out as she goes and I can easily find her. I'm also amazed at how fast she moves!
