: I know tortoises should soak for about 15 minutes to hydrate themselves, but what if the tortoise urinates or defecates as soon as you put it in the water? I wouldn't think it's a good idea to let him soak in it . . . maybe just have a clean tub of water standing by? What does everyone here do? All ideas or thoughts are greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I change the water out that my hatchling eliminates in as needed during the soak it's easier to do. How ever the big guy I soak in a wheel barrow, and unfortunately when he expels urates I can't pull him out, but hose him off fast
right before I dry him. I try not to let him wallow in it too long and to remedey it I'm having
the plumber install hot and cold running water outside, and I'm buying a huge galvanized tub to
soak the chelonian in that has a plug that will
enable me to have a constant flow of warm water
running over him and drain as I scrub him up. Be prepared for this as your Sulcata becomes a mainland Dynotort...It will happen and also start eating your Wheaties for the lifting process.
