Hi Becky & Ella,
My husband built the cage for Teddy, it's melamine
(like your kitchen counter top probably is) and
we used a cut-to-size piece of safety glass and 3 custom screens.
Teddy's enclosure materials were several hundred
dollars, but I understand that there are much easier
and cheaper ways to build things to hold tortoises.
(We've planned our new house with an extra sunroom for
him specifically.)
Even a few boards screwed together will work
as long as you make sure it's safe and secure.
If the heating and lighting work and the substrate
is appropriate, then what it looks like will be
up to your tastes. niki
