20 gallon is not large enough and glass is indeed inappropriate. Most are wild caught and seeing through the glass stresses them out. Russians spend most of their lives underground as well.

: does yours have access to outside. russians are pretty rambunctious and love to explore. they are very active and live climbing and digging. you might want to get a bigger enclosure (i wouldn't recommend glass, they don't seem very happy in there - that might be the problem). good luck
