: i wouldn't feed iceberg lettuce or spinach. you are right that iceberg lettuce wouldn't hurt them in small quantities, but it has nothing good in it for them either. they can both cause diareah. you could give him a little romaine lettuce. mine loves mustard greens, dandelion greens, cactus and small amounts of squash. they like it very dry,i keep hay at one end also. i use a mixture of dirt/peat moss and reptile bark. they love a hiding place and like to climb and dig around a bit. they also don't seem to like it near as hot as other tortoises. anywhere between 60 to 85. i don't soak them quite as often as my other tortoises either. they just don't seem to like the water at all.
