I agree with ed but I have keep a trio together with no problem 1 male 2 females.. with that set up the females share the advances of the male and work out okay.. make sure you have a deep substrate and hide logs or something similar.. My russians are the most active of my tort's and I really enjoy them.. the biggest problem I have is convincing them that they can not possibly be hungry still and are going to bust if I give them any more food...
