I keep wood turtles, greek and redfoot tortoises in the same enclosure indoors and outdoors. Needless to say, I keep my new Spider torts separate. I think it is ok to keep HEALTHY, ACCLIMATED redfoots and russians together. Some individuals will accurately point out that redfoots and russians occupy different ecosystems, and therefore should be separated. My response is that no matter how many different enclosures I use, they will still share the same environment, namely, Virginia. More specifically, my basement/backyard. Russians and redfoots are quite adaptable to these varying climates.
This is a common debate on this board. I am generally alone in my views. Many people will cite references, and provide links to individuals/organizations who are strict segregationists. Experience trumps dogma however, and I have selectively mixed species for years without any problems.
