I have seen this behaviour before in tortoises who have a respiratory infection. A vet check would be wise. It's really not a good idea to let your tortoise roam the house. For one thing it is difficult to make sure that she is spending plenty of time near a heat source. Also it is difficult to ascertain the humidity in each spot of the house. It could well be that your tortoise is haviong trouble digesting it's food if it is avoiding the heat source. A vet friend of mine shared a story of an iguana that was allowed to roam a house and sat too near a window this winter and his leg froze and had to be amputated. Serious bummer. Anyways have a vet check out your tortoise to be on the safe side.
