If you have a stubborn feeder the introduction of another individual that is a good feed can elicit a feeding response in the weak feeder.
Here are some more observations that I'm sure the keepers of these species will corroborate. In the case of Pyxis an Kleinmanni there is obvious social interaction of some sort. Whether there is a benefit to these interactions I can't say but it looks like courting or combat which seems to be a precursor to breeding.
With redfoots specificly you can try your own experiment. Keep one solitary animal in one enclosure and 2 or more in another and see which ones thrive. Besides, you are also keeping the pet as a benefit to you. I'm sure it is more stimulating for you to watch the interaction of 2 or more animals than one.
