I've recently acquired a redfoot tortoise with a respiratory infection. I brought her into the vet and he put her on Chorpalm for 10 days. It helped at the time then about 6 months later she started wheezing again. So the vet put her on the same med again. It's a few months later and she's wheezing again. I live in Alberta Canada which is very dry. Should I be increasing her humidity or trying other medications? The vet here admitted he wasn't very familiar with tortoises so I don't know if he put her on the appropriate med or not. Unfortunatly I can't find a vet here with much knowledge because redfoots aren't very common here.
Any suggestions would be great on medications and also humidity levels.
'Big Red' is female and approx. 19 years with a great and sometimes stubborn personality and a humongous appetite (which she has never lost).
Also, what would be a recommended substrate for a redfoot?
Feel free to e-mail me!!!
Thanks and greatly appreciated
