WOW!!! I never knew that floresent fixtures had diferent ratings.I bought a reptile light fixture because it looked better than a shop light.
I would bet the average person didnt know the different codes given for light fixtures. Learn something new every day.
: If you are having problems with your UV-Bulb, chances are your trying to run a T12 bulb in a T8 Fixture, that seems most obvious ot me. T8 fixtures run allot more efficiant, less wattage and so on. So a T12 tube wont work very well (if at all) If the ballast (or fixture) is rated for a T8. Just make sure when you buy the lamp that the fixture you put it in is rated for a T12 Lamp and NOT a T8. For example my lamp is a 48" tube, 40Watt, rated for a T12. Any T12 ballast will work for basically any T12 tube, all the way down to about 15Watts.
