: I am a 22/m from Singapore. I have been keeping an Indian Star Tortoise for a year plus now. I inspected the tortoise yesterday and found out that she had a solidified waste lodged in the rectum. It is chalky in colour and is suspected to be calcium. She is definitely not able to lay eggs yet, as she is only about 3.5 inches in length. Her rectum/anus was swollen and I had soaked her in warm water before I tried to dislodge the waste matter. As much as I tried, there are still more inside. She did not eat much today and the problem was getting worse than yesterday. If anybody has overcome a similiar crisis, please offer your advice via e-mail. I am truly distressed as it she is my beloved pet. I can;t afford to bring her to a vet as I do not have a license to keep her. I came here as a last resort, please do help by e-mailing me directed. Many thanks in advance, Help is really appreciated. Thank you.

try placing the tortoise in warm water bu not hot.. repeat this process a couple of times. tortoises can go long periods of time before wanting to eat, so eating is not a problem for NOW. i hope others can help, because i am not knowledgable on stars.
