: : Im not to particularly woried about the ("coughing, snorting, sneezing, huffing, squeeking, which ever of these would fit the best im not sure) symptoms, because he only does it when he is picked up, what does this mean?

: My Kinixys's do that..it's called fear..lol

: When he is in his cage he sounds fine. If he did have an infection or sickness of some kind, wouldnt he have a snotty nose or puffy eyes or something to further indicate congestion or sickness?

: You are absolutely right, but it is important to get them to the vet once every 6 months for a once
: over.

: As far as his diet, it has mainly been Romaine Lettuce, carotts, spinach, bannanas and squash. I know that this isnt the best diet and I am changing it imidiately, more grasses and cactus and greener vegitables. Please help me out on his diet as well as informing me of some further symptoms of sickness ASAP!!
: : Thank you very much, youve been great help both of you.
: : Adrienne

: Try this,

: Turnip Greens

: Chichory/Endive ( a good replacement crop for Romaine)

: Mustard Greens

: Collards

: Everything else your feeding it on the list above
: is not good for the desert tort, on a daily basis
: or at all.

: As you get it used to eating those crops, get some
: small 4 X 8 trays about 1/2 inch deep, put some
: sterlie topsoil in them, and get some mixed grass seed. Grow the grass in these trays and swap them
: out as it eats it.

: Get a prickley pear for it, they love them.

: Slowly introduce more grass, less vegtable produce.
: You will see a change during elimination.

: Ciao'

See if you can get some dandelion greens where you are at. Also they really like clover too, just
make sure if you pick it that it hasn't been sprayed with chemicals, and wash it good. Try feeding it hibiscus flowers. Mine loves these things called Jimmy jump ups, you can find edible
flowers at some grocers.

Ciao'

Giovanni
