Whether or not comments are justified, it only makes common sense to not send "certain" language in e-mails, letters, etc. Being upset is one thing, having a valid complaint and doing something about it - even legal action is ok, but whether or not you are in a position where you are "very visible and your name is well known" being restrained in such a verbal response might "be wise."
Action, not verbal responses, will get more done. Instead of getting the word out about what might be a "awful situation," and getting others to back you, an outburst only ends up being the issue rather than what happened to the torts.
In addition, I, nor anyone else reading the post, cannot also assume the e-mail was actually sent - though I would also have no reason to believe it wasn't.
Unfortunately, all of us react to situations, rather than rationalize what might be the best way to get a message out to others.
I think that if anyone has a legitimate grip, an properly worded e-mail could be sent to the individual involved, and a proper response given to the person who has a complaint.
If situations cannot be resolved, then the issue should be posted in a manner that others on the forum might understand what is going on, get both sides of the issue, and make suggestions - make a rational decision on how they wish to proceed with the problem - or try to determine how they can contribute to the welfare of other chelonians in the future.
I have been keeping herps for over 50 years, and have heard and seen the good and bad. We all have made errors, no one knows it all all is perfect. But name calling, posting name calling, and getting away offering turtles in the wild and captivity their best chance to thrive, is not very productive.
This is just a thought. But, though I rarely post for many reasons, I hate to see so much energy being used that in the long run is not likely to change a bad situation (if one exists), or to improve the lives of the animals we profess to care for and want to help.
