UV RAYS for my SULCATA????

I went out and purchased a ESU SUPER UV DAY LIGHT 48" 40 watt fluorescent lamp. It says it gives off 3% UVB and 7% UVA, is this the bulb I need for him to process calcium and vitamins, it is about 18" above his cage, I paid 24.95 for it. Allot of information I have read has varied greatly from not needing it to needing two of them all day and all night. Any advice would be greatly apreciated.
