Over grown beaks on tortoises.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to trim over grown beaks for tortoises. The beak on this tortoise that I have is grossly overgrown and I am very tempted to use a nail clipper to shorten, unless someone advices me otherwise. I was told to use nail files, but the thing is thta the beak of this tortoise is grossly over grown, and I think using a nail file would take too long. If anyone has any suggestions about trimming beaks please post your answer in this forum, and also if you could tell me what you think about using a nail clipper to shorten his beak. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
