Hi, congratulations on your purchase. I would suggest
not using the crushed walnut shell substrate.
To me, of all the possible substrates this is
the worst (OK other than broken glass and rusty
nails substrate maybe! lol). Not only is it
dangerous if accidently ingested (eating some
with food that may fall into it), it's fairly
abrasive on their shells. Switch him off of that
onto something else. Good substrates for Sulcatas
are rabbit/gerbil pellets, newspaper, hay, carefresh,
I use rabbit pellets and lizard litter (Kenaf plant)
for mine and give him big giant piles of Timothy
hay to hide in (form a little tunnel for him at
first, he'll catch right on to that).
