Hi Patti,
You've gotten great advice so far from everyone else, so here is my 2 cents worth.
Be prepared to give up space, landscaped yard where he is and edible plants that are within reach. They will eat vegetation to the ground.
You can landscape the yard outside his enclosure, but make sure it is strong so he can't knock it over, break through it, climb over it.
They are great and very enjoyable to keep.
